We are Bay Area Alliance for Inclusive Education. Our goal is to address the disparities faced by students of diverse backgrounds in educational institutions to foster a more inclusive learning environment for all. We primarily focus on disability and mental health advocacy and empowerment.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is a national honor that certified organizations can give out upon verification of an individual’s commitment to community service and dedication to creating a positive impact in their communities. AIE is proud to be a part of a legacy of driving real, positive, and sustained change in communities across America.
We host educational workshops aimed at dismantling prejudices and biases against students with disabilities and mental health challenges. Through education and open dialogue, we strive to break down barriers and foster a more inclusive, supportive environment for all learners. Our workshops provide valuable insights, practical strategies, and a safe space for meaningful discussions, contributing to the creation of equitable learning spaces where every student can thrive.
Our community events are integral to spreading awareness, raising funds, and building connections within our community. We host club fairs for our nonprofit’s high school branch, providing students with opportunities to engage, learn, and get involved in our mission. Additionally, we actively participate in local fairs and community events, where we raise funds to support organizations that provide essential services to individuals with disabilities. These events not only support our cause but also foster a sense of community and shared purpose.
Our youth programs are dedicated to empowering young people with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to thrive in all aspects of life. We focus on fostering empathy, self-advocacy, and leadership skills, particularly among students. Through a combination of mentoring, skill-building activities, and peer support, our programs create a nurturing environment where every young person is encouraged to embrace their unique strengths and become active contributors to their communities.
From participating in various fairs where we’ve sold homemade and handcrafted goods, to hosting consistent meetings for our community to learn about disability and advocacy, as well as making a $600 dollar donation to local Bay Area organizations serving the disabled community and more, we’ve accomplished a lot for our first year up and running! Take a look at our blog to see what we’ve been up to.

Susanna Chen“Combining my own struggles and insight with self-actualization and my love for my community, I, alongside my close friend Therese, who also deeply understands the impact of the social stigmas surrounding disability and mental health, decided to start AIE to educate, advocate, and dismantle.”

“Growing up with a sister who has many disabilities, I’ve observed the everyday struggles that she faces and how she’s been treated in the community. I hope to continue with AIE, along with my inspiring friend, Susanna, to further our mission and develop more welcoming environments for those like my sister and their families.”
